What this MCCB carries and where it fits
The Siemens 3VA1080-3ED32-0DH0 is a 3-pole SENTRON molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated 80 A at 40 °C, designed for line protection in distribution panels. Its 75.6 kA breaking capacity at 240 V drops to 52.5 kA at 415 V, 32 kA at 440 V, and 7.5 kA at both 500 V and 690 V — so the available fault current at the installation point determines which voltage tap you can use it on. The 800 V rated insulation voltage (Ui) means the internal clearances and creepage are sized for 690 V systems with margin.
Integrated auxiliaries and release
This variant ships with an undervoltage release (UVR) built in and a 2-auxiliary-switch + 1 trip-alarm-switch HQ configuration — no separate order for the UVR module, which saves a DIN-rail slot and wiring step. The trip indicator gives a visual flag on the breaker face, useful during panel walk-downs. Power loss is 21.7 W maximum at rated load, so factor that into enclosure thermal calculations if the panel is tightly packed.
Thermal derating and operating range
The breaker holds its full 80 A rating from 40 °C up to 50 °C, then derates to 78 A at 55 °C, 77 A at 60 °C, 75 A at 65 °C, and 74 A at 70 °C (–). That means in a 55 °C panel ambient — common near top-of-enclosure heat rise — you lose only 2 A, so the 80 A frame still covers most 75 A continuous loads without upsizing. Operating ambient range is -25 °C to +70 °C; storage range is -40 °C to +80 °C.
