Where it fits in the panel
It's a 76.2 mm wide, 130 mm tall, 70 mm deep unit — a standard three-pole MCCB footprint. Mounts on a DIN rail or screws into a backplate. The IP40 front face means it's fine inside a closed enclosure; keep it away from washdown zones or outdoor weather without a secondary cover. Comes with two auxiliary switches (HQ type) factory-installed — part number 3VA9688-0BL33 for the integrated auxiliary trip. That gives you status feedback to a PLC or a remote annunciator without adding a separate block. No undervoltage release, no shunt trip (STL is a separate accessory), no ground-fault monitor, no phase-failure detection, no communication module. It's a bare-bones line-protection breaker — if you need any of those, you'll add external modules or step up to a 3VA1 with options.
Thermal derating — the real-world number
Rated 80 A continuous at 40 °C, 45 °C, and 50 °C — no derating in that band. At 55 °C it drops to 76.8 A, at 60 °C to 75.2 A, at 65 °C to 73.6 A, and at 70 °C to 72 A. If your panel ambient runs hot (say, next to a drive cabinet or in a sun-baked enclosure), size the load accordingly — don't just read the 80 A nameplate.
