80 A MCCB with TM210 release and high interrupting capacity
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA1080-3ED36-0AA0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker rated for 80 A continuous at 40 °C, carrying the same 80 A rating through 50 °C before a gentle thermal derating begins — 78 A at 55 °C, 77 A at 60 °C, 75 A at 65 °C, 74 A at 70 °C. That means in a warm panel you still get nearly full rated current without oversizing the frame. The TM210 thermal-magnetic release has an adjustable instantaneous trip threshold up to 800 A. Breaking capacity is 75.6 kA at 240 V, 52.5 kA at 415 V, 32 kA at 440 V, and 7.5 kA at both 500 V and 690 V. That 52.5 kA at 415 V is the number most panel builders will check first for 400 V class distribution — it handles high-fault utility feeds without needing a current-limiting fuse upstream.
Panel fit and integration
Dimensions are 130 mm height, 76.2 mm width, 70 mm depth — a compact 3-pole footprint that fits standard distribution panelboards and switchgear cubicles. Front IP40 protection keeps dust and tools out; the rear and sides are open to the enclosure air for heat dissipation. Rated insulation voltage Ui is 800 V, and the maximum DC operational voltage is 500 V — so this breaker can also serve DC bus or battery circuits within that limit, though the DC breaking capacity curve differs from the AC values listed here. The manufacturer's device manual covers DC application details.
