Line protection MCCB with TM210 release
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA1080-3ED42-0KA0 is a 4-pole molded case circuit breaker rated for 80 A continuous current, built for line protection duty. It carries a TM210 thermal-magnetic release — the '210' designates the fixed thermal and magnetic trip thresholds, so the breaker responds to both sustained overloads (thermal curve) and short-circuit events (magnetic instantaneous trip). The 80 A rating holds flat from 40 °C through 50 °C, then derates to 72 A at 70 °C, which is the upper operating limit. Breaking capacity varies with line voltage: 75.6 kA at 240 V, 52.5 kA at 415 V, 32 kA at 440 V, and 7.5 kA at 690 V. For a 480 V panel, the 415 V figure is the closest published value — expect the actual SCCR to fall between the 415 V and 440 V ratings. The 800 V rated insulation voltage (Ui) confirms the breaker is built for 690 V systems with margin.
Panel fit and integration
Dimensions are 70 mm deep, 101.6 mm wide, 130 mm tall — a standard 4-pole MCCB footprint that fits Siemens SENTRON distribution blocks and DIN-rail mounting. The front face carries IP40 protection, adequate for enclosed panel use; no IP rating is stated for the body sides, so keep clearance to grounded metal per the device manual. This variant ships without auxiliary contacts or a phase-failure detection module. The only integrated auxiliary release is a shunt trip (STL), order code 3VA9688-0BL33, which must be specified separately if remote tripping is needed. No undervoltage release, no ground-fault monitoring, no communication function — it is a bare line-protection breaker for straightforward feeder or branch circuits.
