80 A MCCB with high interrupting capacity for line protection
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA1080-4ED32-0AD0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated for 80 A continuous current, configured as a line protection device with a TM210 thermal-magnetic overcurrent release. Its interrupting capacity reaches 121 kA at 240 V AC, 75.6 kA at 415 V, 52.5 kA at 440 V, and 11.9 kA at 690 V — figures that govern selectivity coordination in high-fault panels. The TM210 release provides fixed thermal and magnetic trip settings, so the breaker is sized for the load, not field-adjusted.
Thermal derating and ambient temperature
The breaker carries its full 80 A rating from 40 °C through 50 °C ambient. At 55 °C the continuous current derates to 76.8 A, dropping to 72 A at 70 °C. For panel builders, this means the 80 A frame can be applied at full rating in a 50 °C enclosure; above that, the load or the breaker must be downsized per the published curve. The operating temperature range is -25 °C to 70 °C, with storage from -40 °C to 80 °C.
Dimensions and panel fit
The 3VA1080-4ED32-0AD0 measures 130 mm high, 76.2 mm wide, and 70 mm deep. The 76.2 mm width (3 inches) is the standard 3-pole MCCB footprint for this frame size, so it drops into existing SENTRON 3VA panel cutouts without modification. Front protection is IP40, suitable for enclosed distribution boards where tools are required to access live parts.
Auxiliary contacts and release configuration
This variant ships with three auxiliary switches (HQ type) for remote status indication. There is no undervoltage release, no shunt trip, no ground-fault monitoring, and no communication function fitted — the breaker is a pure line-protection device with local signaling only. The auxiliary contacts share the same compact housing; no additional side-mount modules are required for the three-switch configuration.
