Integrator's terse spec recap
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA1080-4ED36-0CH0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated 80 A at 40 °C, with a breaking capacity of 121 kA at 240 V AC. It is designed for line protection and includes an undervoltage release plus two auxiliary switches and one trip alarm switch. The unit is 70 mm deep, 76.2 mm wide, and 130 mm tall — fits standard 3-pole MCCB panel cutouts.
Breaking capacity across voltage levels
Breaking capacity drops as voltage rises: 121 kA at 240 V, 75.6 kA at 415 V, 52.5 kA at 440 V, and 11.9 kA at both 500 V and 690 V. That 11.9 kA at 690 V is the floor — verify the available fault current at your service voltage before committing the BOM line.
Thermal derating and continuous current
Rated current holds at 80 A from 40 °C through 50 °C, then derates: 78 A at 55 °C, 77 A at 60 °C, 75 A at 65 °C, 74 A at 70 °C. If the panel ambient runs above 50 °C, the 80 A nameplate doesn't apply — use the derated figure for continuous load planning.
