Line protection MCCB, 80 A frame, TM210 release
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA1080-4ED36-0DC0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated for 80 A continuous current at 40 °C, with the TM210 thermal-magnetic overcurrent release. It holds the full 80 A up to 50 °C — no derating needed in a typical warm panel — then steps down to 76.8 A at 55 °C, 75.2 A at 60 °C, 73.6 A at 65 °C, and 72 A at 70 °C. That thermal curve means if your enclosure runs hot, you lose less than 10 % of capacity even at the upper operating limit.
Interrupting capacity across voltage tiers
Breaking capacity is voltage-dependent: 121 kA at 240 V, 75.6 kA at 415 V, 52.5 kA at 440 V, and 11.9 kA at 690 V. That 121 kA at 240 V covers high-fault utility feeds; the 11.9 kA at 690 V still clears most industrial motor-circuit faults. The 800 V rated insulation voltage (Ui) confirms it's built for 690 V line-to-line systems.
Undervoltage release and auxiliary contacts
This unit ships with an undervoltage release (UVR) fitted — it trips the breaker if control voltage drops below the dropout threshold, standard for safety circuits that need a loss-of-voltage shutdown. Two HQ auxiliary switches (form C) are integrated for remote status feedback. The auxiliary trip accessory is order code 3VA9608-0BB25 if you need to add a shunt trip later. No communication module, no phase-failure detection, no ground-fault monitoring — this is a straight line-protection breaker, not a multifunction power monitor.
Panel fit and environment
Dimensions: 130 mm height, 76.2 mm width, 70 mm depth. That 70 mm depth is shallow enough for a 200 mm deep enclosure with wiring clearance behind. Front face is IP40 — protected against tools and wires >1 mm, but not washdown. Operating range -25 °C to 70 °C; storage from -40 °C to 80 °C. Mechanical endurance rated at 15 000 cycles, which is typical for a distribution MCCB in a panel that sees infrequent switching.
