Siemens 3VA1096-3ED32-0AF0 — SENTRON MCCB, 16 A, 75.6 kA
The Siemens 3VA1096-3ED32-0AF0 is a SENTRON molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) designed for line protection in distribution panels. Rated 16 A continuously at 40 °C across all three poles, it holds that rating through 55 °C and derates to 15 A at 60 °C and above — so in a warm enclosure you lose one amp, not the whole device. The TM210 thermal-magnetic release handles overload and short-circuit protection with a fixed magnetic trip threshold. Breaking capacity is 75.6 kA at 240 V, stepping down to 52.5 kA at 415 V, 32 kA at 440 V, and 7.5 kA at both 500 V and 690 V. That means on a 480 V system you get the 440 V figure (32 kA) as the closest — enough for most commercial panelboards but verify against your available fault current. The 800 V rated insulation voltage gives headroom for 690 V line-to-line installations.
Panel fit and integration
Three-pole footprint: 76.2 mm wide, 130 mm tall, 70 mm deep. The auxiliary switch configuration (1 auxiliary + 1 trip alarm switch HQ) occupies the accessory slot. Power loss at full load is 10.6 W — negligible for thermal budgeting in a multi-breaker panel but worth noting if the enclosure is sealed and tightly packed. Operating temperature range is -25 °C to 70 °C; storage range is -40 °C to 80 °C.
