What this MCCB delivers on the panel
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA1096-3ED32-0CA0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated for 16 A continuous current at 40 °C, with a TM210 thermal-magnetic release — the thermal element handles overloads, the magnetic element handles short-circuits. Breaking capacity hits 75.6 kA at 240 V, 52.5 kA at 415 V, and 32 kA at 440 V, so it clears high-fault events without cascading upstream in most distribution panels. The undervoltage release (UVR) integrated as standard means the breaker trips if control voltage drops, which is typical for emergency-stop or mains-monitoring circuits. Rated insulation voltage is 800 V, and the front face carries IP40 protection — fine for enclosed panel mounting, not for washdown zones. Dimensions are 130 mm height, 76.2 mm width, 70 mm depth, so it fits standard SENTRON 3VA panel cutouts and busbar systems.
Thermal derating and operating range
The 16 A rating holds flat from 40 °C through 50 °C. Above that, it derates linearly: 15.36 A at 55 °C, 15.04 A at 60 °C, 14.72 A at 65 °C, and 14.4 A at 70 °C. Operating ambient range is -25 °C to 70 °C; storage range is -40 °C to 80 °C. If the panel runs hot near the top of the enclosure, factor the derating into the load schedule.
