MCCB for line protection — 16 A, 121 kA SCCR
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA1096-4ED32-0KH0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker rated for line protection at 16 A continuous (Iu), with a TM210 thermal-magnetic overcurrent release. Its interrupting capacity hits 121 kA at 240 V and 75.6 kA at 415 V — enough to handle high-fault utility feeds or transformer secondaries without cascading upstream. The breaker carries a shunt trip (STL) auxiliary release and 2 auxiliary switches plus a separate trip alarm switch (HQ).
Fit and thermal derating
Footprint: 130 mm high, 76.2 mm wide, 70 mm deep — standard 3VA frame size that clips onto DIN rail or mounts with screws to a backplate. Rated continuous current holds at 16 A from 40 °C through 50 °C ambient; above that it derates to 15.36 A at 55 °C, 15.04 A at 60 °C, 14.72 A at 65 °C, and 14.4 A at 70 °C. If the panel ambient hits 55 °C, plan for that 4% drop. Front face is IP40 — fine for a clean enclosure; no washdown rating.
