Switch disconnector for load isolation
The Siemens 3VA1110-1AA42-0CC0 is a 4-pole switch disconnector from the SENTRON 3VA1 family, rated for 100 A continuous current (Iu) and designed for IEC frames up to 160 A. It provides visible-break isolation without overload or short-circuit protection — it's a disconnect, not a breaker. The built-in undervoltage release (UVR) trips the switch when supply voltage drops below a threshold, which is common in safety circuits or emergency-stop chains where loss of control power must open the load. Rated insulation voltage is 800 V, and the maximum operational voltage is 690 V AC (50/60 Hz) or 600 V DC. The unit accepts busbar connection on the front terminals, making it suitable for distribution panels where busbar tap-offs feed downstream loads. The IP40 front protection means it's splash-proof from the front but not sealed — mount inside an enclosure for washdown environments.
Physical fit and integration
Dimensions: 130 mm height, 101.6 mm width, 70 mm depth. The width is a standard 4-module footprint for panel-mounting on DIN rail or direct screw fixing. The 70 mm depth leaves clearance for busbar connections and auxiliary wiring behind the panel door. Two auxiliary switches (HQ type) are integrated, providing status feedback to a PLC or indication lamp without an external add-on block.
Environmental and endurance ratings
Operating temperature range is -25 °C to +70 °C; storage range is -40 °C to +80 °C. Mechanical endurance is rated at 15,000 latching operations. Maximum power loss is 38 W, which should be factored into enclosure thermal calculations if the switch is continuously loaded near its 100 A rating.
