What this MCCB carries and where it fits
The Siemens 3VA1110-3EF32-0JC0 is a 3-pole SENTRON molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated 100 A continuously at 40 °C ambient, with a line-protection trip curve. It carries a 75.6 kA interrupting capacity at 240 V AC, stepping down to 52.5 kA at 415 V and 32 kA at 440 V — still enough headroom for most 400 V distribution panels. The 800 V rated insulation voltage means it is comfortable in 480 V or 600 V industrial services as well. The breaker is fitted with a shunt trip (STL) for remote opening and two HQ auxiliary switches for status feedback to a PLC or annunciator. No undervoltage release, no ground-fault module, no communication function — this is a straightforward line-protection device for a main or feeder breaker position. The 25 W maximum power loss is manageable in a standard enclosure, but factor it into the thermal budget if the panel is tightly packed.
Thermal derating and real-world current
The 100 A rating holds from 40 °C up to 50 °C ambient. Above that, derate linearly: 98 A at 55 °C, 96 A at 60 °C, 94 A at 65 °C, and 91 A at 70 °C. If the panel sits in a hot mechanical room or near a furnace, the 70 °C figure is the one to design against. The operating temperature range is -25 °C to +70 °C, storage from -40 °C to +80 °C — fine for unconditioned warehouses or outdoor enclosures in temperate climates.
Panel fit and mounting
The breaker footprint is 76.2 mm wide (3 in), 130 mm tall (5.12 in), and 70 mm deep (2.76 in) — standard 3-pole MCCB form factor for DIN-rail or backplate mounting. The 70 mm depth leaves room behind a 200 mm deep enclosure for wiring and the shunt trip leads. Verify gland-plate clearance if using a shallow 150 mm box.
