Line protection MCCB with high interrupting capacity
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA1110-4EE42-0AA0 is a 4-pole molded case circuit breaker rated for line protection, carrying 100 A continuously at 40 °C with no derating needed up to 50 °C. Breaking capacity hits 121 kA at 240 V AC, 76 kA at 415 V, and still holds 53 kA at 440 V, so it handles high-fault utility feeds and transformer secondaries without cascading upstream breakers.
At 100 A continuous, this MCCB feeds a main distribution bus or a large motor control center feeder. The TM220 release means the thermal pickup is fixed (not adjustable), so coordination studies should verify the long-time band against downstream branch breakers.
Thermal performance across the panel ambient range
Rated 100 A from 40 °C through 50 °C ambient, then derates gradually: 98 A at 55 °C, 96 A at 60 °C, 94 A at 65 °C, and 91 A at 70 °C. The maximum power loss of 25 W is dissipated through the breaker housing; adjacent devices in a dense panel should be spaced per the manufacturer's mounting guidelines to avoid heat stacking.
