What it is and what it does
The Siemens 3VA1110-4EF36-0HA0 is a SENTRON molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) designed for line protection in distribution panels. It carries a 100 A continuous rating at 40 °C and delivers a 121 kA interrupting capacity at 240 V — enough to handle high-fault utility feeds or transformer secondaries without cascading upstream. Three poles, rated insulation voltage 800 V, and a TM240 thermal-magnetic trip unit. The built-in shunt trip (STL) allows remote tripping from a PLC safety output or emergency-stop circuit — no separate undervoltage release fitted.
Breaking capacity across voltages
Interrupting rating drops as system voltage rises: 121 kA at 240 V, 75.6 kA at 415 V, 52.5 kA at 440 V, and 11.9 kA at both 500 V and 690 V. For a 480 V panel, the 52.5 kA figure at 440 V is the closest reference — coordination studies should use the 500 V value (11.9 kA) as the conservative bound for 480 V systems.
Thermal derating and panel fit
Rated 100 A from 40 °C through 50 °C; derates to 98 A at 55 °C, 96 A at 60 °C, 94 A at 65 °C, and 91 A at 70 °C. In a sealed enclosure or high-ambient machine cabinet, the 91 A floor at 70 °C is the figure to use for continuous load sizing. Dimensions: 130 mm high, 76.2 mm wide, 70 mm deep. Fits standard 3-pole MCCB panel cutouts; the 76.2 mm width matches the common 3-inch footprint for 100 A frame breakers.
