What this MCCB delivers — and the ratings that decide fit
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA1110-4EF36-0KA0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated for 100 A continuous current — that is the Iu figure that governs the main bus or feeder it protects, not a peak or conditional rating. A 100 A frame means it carries 100 A continuously at 40 °C, 45 °C, and 50 °C without derating; at 55 °C it still holds 96 A, and at 70 °C it delivers 90 A. That thermal curve matters when the breaker sits in a warm enclosure alongside other heat sources — you keep full ampacity up to 50 °C, then lose 4 A per 5 °C step. Breaking capacity is the other headline number: 121 kA at 240 V, 75.6 kA at 415 V, 52.5 kA at 440 V, and 11.9 kA at 690 V. At 415 V — the most common three-phase distribution voltage in much of the world — 75.6 kA SCCR means this breaker safely interrupts a fault up to that level without welding or cascading upstream. That is a high-interrupting rating for a 100 A frame, suited for transformer-secondaries or high-fault industrial panels. The overcurrent release is a TM240 — a thermal-magnetic type with fixed thermal and magnetic settings, not electronic. That makes it a straightforward line-protection breaker for cable and busbar protection, not a motor-protection or selective device. No undervoltage release, no ground-fault monitoring, no auxiliary contacts, no communication module. It does carry a shunt trip (STL) auxiliary release, order code 3VA9688-0BL33, for remote tripping.
Panel fit and mounting
Mounts on a DIN rail or direct panel-mount via the standard SENTRON 3VA footprint. Dimensions are 130 mm height, 76.2 mm width, 70 mm depth. The 76.2 mm width is a 3-pole frame — three module-widths at roughly 25.4 mm per pole — so it occupies three adjacent 45 mm DIN spaces in a typical distribution board. IP40 on the front means it is protected against tools and wires >1 mm but not against water ingress; keep it inside a sealed enclosure for wet or washdown areas.
