100 A MCCB with high interrupting capacity for line protection
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA1110-5ED32-0CC0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker rated for 100 A continuous current at 40 °C, with a TM210 thermal-magnetic overcurrent release. Its interrupting capacity reaches 187 kA at 240 V, 121 kA at 415 V, 75.6 kA at 440 V, and 17 kA at 690 V — figures that cover most industrial fault-current scenarios without needing a current-limiting upstream device.
At 415 V the figure drops to 121 kA, still well above typical transformer-fed fault levels in industrial distribution. The 75.6 kA at 440 V and 17 kA at 690 V define the upper boundary for higher-voltage installations. These are the values a site electrical engineer uses to verify selectivity with downstream breakers and to confirm the panel's SCCR rating.
Above that, derating begins: 96 A at 55 °C, 94 A at 60 °C, 92 A at 65 °C, and 90 A at 70 °C. In a sealed non-ventilated enclosure, expect to apply the 55 °C or 60 °C column depending on internal heat rise.
Mechanical endurance and auxiliary contacts
Rated for 15,000 mechanical operations — adequate for a main feeder or branch breaker that sees infrequent switching. The two HQ auxiliary switches (form C, changeover) provide status to a PLC or SCADA without requiring a separate interposing relay. The auxiliary trip unit (3VA9608-0BB24) is integrated; no external wiring to a shunt trip is needed for the UVR function.
