Its interrupting capacity hits 187 kA at 240 V AC and 121 kA at 415 V AC, which puts it in the high-fault tier for industrial distribution panels where the available short-circuit current is well above typical 25–65 kA ranges.
Interrupting rating — why 187 kA matters
At 240 V, this breaker clears 187 kA without failing — that is the SCCR at the line side, not a coordination number. For a panel fed by a transformer with low impedance, or one close to the utility service entrance, the available fault current can exceed 100 kA easily. A standard 65 kA MCCB would not hold; this one does. At 415 V it still clears 121 kA, and at 690 V it drops to 17 kA, which is still adequate for most 690 V motor circuits.
No auxiliary contacts are built in; if you need status feedback to a PLC, you add the optional auxiliary switch block later.
What the TM210 release and shunt trip mean for your BOM
The overcurrent release is a TM210 — a thermal-magnetic type with fixed thermal pickup and magnetic short-circuit pickup. It is not adjustable, so the breaker is factory-set for a 100 A frame. The shunt trip (STL) is built in, allowing remote tripping via a control voltage. The integrated auxiliary trip is order code 3VA9688-0BL32, which is the shunt trip coil itself.
Temperature derating — the real continuous current
Above that, it derates: 96 A at 55 °C, 94 A at 60 °C, 92 A at 65 °C, and 90 A at 70 °C. If your panel ambient runs at 60 °C, plan for 94 A continuous — not the nameplate 100 A.
