MCCB for line protection — 100 A, 3-pole, TM240 release
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA1110-5EF32-0HA0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker rated for 100 A continuous current (Iu) with a TM240 thermal-magnetic overcurrent release, configured as a line protection version. It carries a shunt trip (STL) auxiliary release, part number 3VA9688-0BL30, for remote tripping capability. The breaker is designed for DIN-rail or panel-mount installation — the 70 mm depth and 76.2 mm width fit standard enclosure cutouts, and the IP40 front protection suits indoor panel environments.
Breaking capacity — what the ratings mean for your panel
This MCCB delivers 187 kA at 240 V, 121 kA at 415 V, 75.6 kA at 440 V, and 17 kA at 690 V. Those are the maximum fault currents the breaker can safely interrupt at each voltage level — critical for selectivity studies and SCCR compliance. For a 415 V panel with a prospective short-circuit current of 100 kA, this breaker clears it without cascading upstream. At 690 V the 17 kA rating is lower, so verify the available fault current at that voltage before specifying.
Thermal derating and operating range
The breaker carries its full 100 A rating from 40 °C through 50 °C. Above that it derates linearly: 96 A at 55 °C, 94 A at 60 °C, 92 A at 65 °C, and 90 A at 70 °C. If your enclosure ambient runs at 55 °C, plan for 96 A continuous — not 100 A. The operating temperature range is -25 °C to 70 °C, with storage from -40 °C to 80 °C. The 15 000 latching endurance cycles give a service life estimate for switching applications.
Panel integration notes
The breaker measures 130 mm high, 76.2 mm wide, and 70 mm deep — a compact footprint for a 100 A MCCB. The IP40 front protection means it is sealed against tools and solid objects larger than 1 mm on the front face, but not against dust ingress or water; mount it inside a panel with a higher overall rating. The reference code Q per DIN EN 81346-2 is used for circuit-breaker identification in schematics. For DC network applications, consult the 3VA device manual referenced in the datasheet.
