What this MCCB carries and what it means for the panel
The Siemens 3VA1110-5MH36-0DH0 is a 3-pole IEC frame 160 molded-case circuit breaker rated for 100 A continuous current, with a 55 kA breaking capacity at 415 V AC (class M). That interrupting rating means it can clear a bolted fault up to 55 kA without rupturing — sized for high-fault industrial distribution panels where the available short-circuit current is substantial. This variant is configured for starter protection with a TM120M thermal-magnetic release, adjustable short-circuit pickup Ii = 5–15 × In. It ships without overload protection (the TM120M provides the magnetic-only function here), so the overload relay in the motor starter handles the thermal curve. The undervoltage release (UVR) on 208–230 V AC 50/60 Hz drops the breaker if control power is lost — common on safety circuits or E-stop chains where loss of control voltage must open the main disconnect. Two HQ auxiliary switches and one HQ trip alarm switch are factory-installed, giving remote status for open/closed and fault-trip indication. Clamp terminals accept copper or aluminum conductors without lug kits.
