The Siemens 3VA1110-5MH36-0JC0 is a 3-pole IEC frame 160 molded-case circuit breaker rated 100 A continuous, with a 55 kA breaking capacity at 415 V (class M). That 55 kA figure is the Icu — the ultimate short-circuit breaking capacity — meaning it can safely interrupt a fault of that magnitude once and still carry rated current afterward. For a 415 V distribution panel, that puts it well above typical utility fault levels, so you get selectivity headroom without upsizing the frame. The TM120M trip unit is a thermal-magnetic, fixed-trip design with adjustable short-circuit pickup (Ii = 5…15 × In). It does not include overload protection — this variant is intended for starter protection, where the upstream overload relay handles the thermal curve and the breaker provides only short-circuit interruption. The adjustable magnetic pickup lets you dial in motor inrush without nuisance tripping.
Clamp terminals accept copper or aluminum conductors up to the frame rating. The shunt trip (STL) operates on 110–127 V DC or AC 50/60 Hz, letting you integrate remote trip from an E-stop or safety relay. Two HQ auxiliary switches provide status feedback to the PLC or annunciator panel — one for the main contacts, one for the trip signal.
