Line-side protection for high-fault panels
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA1110-6EF36-0AD0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated for 100 A continuous current, designed for line protection in distribution and motor control center applications. The TM240 thermal-magnetic release provides adjustable long-time delay (tr max 1 s) and fixed instantaneous pickup, covering cable and busbar protection in industrial switchgear. Breaking capacity reaches 220 kA at 240 V AC and 154 kA at 415 V AC — figures that tell you this breaker handles fault levels typical of large transformer secondaries or high-capacity bus risers without needing upstream current-limiting fuses.
Current derating and thermal limits
Rated continuous current holds at 100 A from 40 °C through 50 °C ambient. Above that, derate linearly: 96 A at 55 °C, 94 A at 60 °C, 92 A at 65 °C, 90 A at 70 °C. The operating temperature range spans -25 °C to 70 °C, with storage from -40 °C to 80 °C. For a panel builder: if this breaker sits in a non-ventilated enclosure near other heat sources, check the 55 °C row first — that's where the margin starts to shrink.
Physical fit and auxiliary contacts
Dimensions: 130 mm height, 76.2 mm width, 70 mm depth. The 76.2 mm width (3-inch footprint) is standard for 3-pole MCCBs in this class — it fits existing SENTRON mounting bases and busbar kits without adapter plates. Three HQ auxiliary switches are integrated, giving you status feedback for remote monitoring or interlocking without an add-on module. Front face carries IP40 protection; no trip indicator or voltage trigger is fitted on this variant.
