The TM240 thermal-magnetic overcurrent release handles overloads and short-circuits; the shunt trip (STL) allows remote tripping via a separate control signal. Breaking capacity is the headline number here: 220 kA at 240 V, 154 kA at 415 V, 121 kA at 440 V, and 17 kA at 690 V.
At 55 °C it drops to 96 A, at 60 °C to 94 A, and at 70 °C to 90 A. If the breaker sits near a drive or transformer inside a sealed cabinet, that 90 A at 70 °C is the actual limit; size the upstream conductor accordingly.
