MCCB for line protection — 100 A, 4-pole, 220 kA at 240 V
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA1110-6FF46-0AA0 is a 4-pole molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated for line protection at 100 A continuous current (Iu). It carries a TM240 thermal-magnetic release and a short-circuit breaking capacity of 220 kA at 240 V — enough to handle high-fault utility feeds or transformer secondaries without cascading upstream. The front face is IP40 rated, so it's fine for enclosed panel mounting where tools or fingers are the main concern, not washdown.
Thermal derating — 100 A at 45 °C, 91 A at 70 °C
The breaker carries its full 100 A rating up to 50 °C ambient. At 55 °C it derates to 98 A, at 60 °C to 96 A, at 65 °C to 94 A, and at 70 °C to 91 A. If your panel runs hot — say near a curing press or inside a sealed enclosure in a foundry — the 70 °C figure is the one to size against. The maximum operating temperature is 70 °C, so this breaker can sit in a warm cabinet without forced cooling, as long as the continuous load stays under 91 A. Storage range is -40 °C to 80 °C, which covers most shipping and warehousing conditions.
Mounting dimensions — fits standard panel cutouts
The breaker measures 130 mm high, 101.6 mm wide, and 70 mm deep. The 4-pole width (101.6 mm) is a standard 4-module MCCB footprint — it drops into the same cutout as other 4-pole SENTRON 3VA frames. Panel builders can lay out the backpanel with standard DIN-rail or screw-mounting hardware; the depth (70 mm) leaves clearance for rear-connected busbars or cable lugs.
