What this part is for — and what it isn't
This is a switch disconnector, not a molded case circuit breaker. It provides visible isolation and load-break capability at 160 A but has no overcurrent or short-circuit protection — no trip curve, no overload adjustment. The shunt trip (STL) is the only integrated release; there is no undervoltage release or communication module. The closest functional peer, the 3VA1110-5EE32-0JA0, is a full MCCB with a TM220 thermal-magnetic release and 100 A frame rating. That part offers LI protection (long-time and instantaneous) and a much higher interrupting capacity — 187 kA at 240 V — but lacks the switch-disconnector's pure isolation role. The 3VA1116-1AA32-0HC0 is the right choice when the upstream breaker handles fault clearing and you need a local disconnect with remote trip capability.
Dimensions: 76.2 mm wide (3-inch footprint), 130 mm tall, 70 mm deep. Front terminals accept busbar connection for the main circuit — common in panelboard and switchboard builds where a common bus feeds multiple disconnects. The shunt trip coil draws from a separate 12–30 V DC or 24 V AC supply — not from the main bus. Wire the control voltage through a remote E-stop or PLC output for load shedding. The two HQ auxiliary contacts (CO form) provide independent NO/NC feedback for status indication or interlocking. Suitable for indoor panel environments within those limits.
