What this part is — and isn't
The Siemens 3VA1116-1AA36-0AC0 is a SENTRON switch disconnector in a 3VA1 molded-case frame, rated 160 A continuous current (Iu) across 3 poles. It is not a circuit breaker — no overload or short-circuit release inside. It provides visible isolation for a load circuit, with a 15 000-cycle mechanical endurance. Front terminal connection, 70 mm deep, 76.2 mm wide, 130 mm tall, IP40 on the front face. Rated for AC 690 V (50/60 Hz) and DC 500 V maximum operational voltage. The 2 kA limited short-time rating (1 s and 0.5 s) confirms it is built for isolation duty, not fault interruption — upstream protection handles the clearing.
Panel fit and integration
Same 76.2 mm wide footprint as the 3VA1 MCCB line — drops into the same DIN-rail or panel-mount cutout. Two HQ auxiliary switches (CO contacts) come fitted; no undervoltage release, no communication module, no voltage-trip accessory. Optional motor drive can be added later via the product extension slot. Operating temperature range -25 °C to +70 °C; storage from -40 °C to +80 °C. Maximum power dissipation 38 W at full rated current — factor that into enclosure thermal rise calculations.
