What it is and what it does
The Siemens 3VA1116-1AA36-0AG0 is a SENTRON 3-pole switch disconnector in a molded-case circuit breaker (MCCB) physical design, rated 160 A continuous at 40 °C through 50 °C. It provides no overload or short-circuit protection — it is a straight disconnect for isolation and switching duty, not a protective device. The front terminal connection accepts standard lug or clamp terminations for the main circuit.
Thermal performance and derating
Rated 160 A from 40 °C to 50 °C ambient. Above 50 °C the current must be derated: 158 A at 55 °C, 155 A at 60 °C, 153 A at 65 °C, and 150 A at 70 °C. The operating ambient range is -25 °C to 70 °C; storage range is -40 °C to 80 °C. Maximum power dissipation is 38 W at rated load.
Voltage ratings and auxiliary configuration
Rated insulation voltage 800 V, operating voltage 690 V AC and 500 V DC. The unit ships with one auxiliary switch and one trip alarm switch (HP type), providing two CO contacts for auxiliary signaling. No undervoltage release, no voltage trigger, no communication function. Mechanical service life is 15,000 operating cycles typical.
Panel fit and protection
Dimensions: 130 mm height, 76.2 mm width, 70 mm depth. Front face is IP40 rated. The MCCB-style footprint matches standard 3VA100/3VA110 cutouts and busbar systems. Optional motor drive available for remote operation.
