160 A MCCB with 75.6 kA interrupting — line protection, UVR included
The Siemens 3VA1116-3EF32-0CA0 is a SENTRON 3-pole molded case circuit breaker rated for 160 A continuous at 40 °C, with a breaking capacity of 75.6 kA at 240 V AC. It's designed for line protection duty and comes fitted with an undervoltage release (UVR) as standard — no separate add-on needed for that function. The 160 A rating holds steady across 40 °C to 50 °C ambient, then derates to 158 A at 55 °C and 150 A at 70 °C. That's enough headroom for most panel environments without having to oversize the frame. The TM240 overcurrent release handles the thermal-magnetic trip curve. This is a fixed thermal-magnetic unit, not electronic, so no adjustments or communication module — set it, torque it, move on.
Breaking capacity across voltages
Interrupting rating drops as voltage climbs: 75.6 kA at 240 V, 52.5 kA at 415 V, 32 kA at 440 V, and 11.9 kA at both 500 V and 690 V. For a 480 V panel (common in North America) the 32 kA at 440 V is the closest benchmark — expect similar or slightly lower at 480 V, so verify your available fault current before committing the BOM line.
Panel fit and dimensions
At 70 mm deep, 76.2 mm wide, and 130 mm tall, this breaker fits standard SENTRON mounting footprints. The 3-pole block takes up three module spaces on a DIN rail or panel-mount base. No trip indicator on the front face, so you'll read the handle position for status.
Environmental and electrical ratings
Rated insulation voltage is 800 V. Operating temperature range is -25 °C to 70 °C; storage from -40 °C to 80 °C. Maximum power loss at rated load is 40.5 W — account for that in your thermal budget if the breaker is in a sealed enclosure.
