What this MCCB is and what it does
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA1116-3EF32-0KA0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated for line protection, carrying a TM240 thermal-magnetic overcurrent release and a built-in shunt trip (STL) auxiliary release. Rated current holds at 160 A from 40 °C through 50 °C, then derates gradually to 150 A at 70 °C — so in a warm panel you still get full 160 A up to 50 °C, which covers most standard industrial enclosures without derating. Breaking capacity is 75.6 kA at 240 V, 52.5 kA at 415 V, and 32 kA at 440 V — numbers that tell you this breaker handles high-fault scenarios typical of transformer-fed main feeders or large motor branch circuits. At 500 V and 690 V the capacity drops to 11.9 kA, still adequate for many 480 V and 600 V class installations where the available fault current is known to be lower.
Panel fit and mounting
Dimensions are 130 mm high, 76.2 mm wide, 70 mm deep. Rated insulation voltage is 800 V. Maximum power loss is 38 W — that's the heat it dumps into the enclosure at full rated current. In a sealed panel with multiple breakers, that figure drives the ventilation or cooling requirement; plan for it if you're packing several high-current MCCBs in a small box.
