160 A MCCB with 75.6 kA interrupting capacity at 240 V
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA1116-3EF36-0CC0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated at 160 A at 40 °C, designed for line protection in industrial distribution panels. Its interrupting capacity hits 75.6 kA at 240 V AC, stepping down to 52.5 kA at 415 V and 32 kA at 440 V — enough to clear high-fault scenarios downstream of a large transformer without cascading upstream breakers. The 800 V rated insulation voltage suits it for 690 V line-to-line systems where fault currents stay under 11.9 kA.
Thermal derating and auxiliary hardware
Full 160 A rating holds up to 50 °C; above that it derates linearly to 150 A at 70 °C. That matters for a tightly packed panel — if ambient inside the enclosure hits 60 °C, you're down to 155 A continuous. The breaker ships with a basic switch (order code 3VA11163EF360AA0) and includes two HQ auxiliary switches plus an undervoltage release (UVR) built in. No trip indicator on the front face, so remote signaling relies on those aux contacts. Max power loss is 40.5 W — factor that into enclosure ventilation.
