The Siemens 3VA1116-4ED12-0AA0 is a SENTRON 1-pole molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated for line protection, carrying a continuous current Iu of 160 A at 45 °C and 50 °C, derating to 150 A at 70 °C. The TM210 thermal-magnetic release provides LI (long-time and instantaneous) protection with a fixed instantaneous pickup Ii of 1600 A. Breaking capacity reaches 75.6 kA at 240 V AC and 9 kA at 415 V AC — the 415 V figure is the one that governs most industrial 400 V distribution panels.
Thermal derating and panel fit
At 55 °C the breaker carries 158 A, at 60 °C it drops to 155 A, and at 65 °C to 153 A — a derating curve of roughly 1 A per 5 °C above 50 °C. For a panel running at 55 °C ambient, the effective capacity is 158 A, not the nameplate 160 A. The 25.4 mm width (1 inch) per pole means a 1-pole unit occupies a single 1-inch slot on the DIN rail; depth is 70 mm and height 130 mm. Front IP40 protects against tools and wires but not washdown — keep it inside a sealed enclosure if the environment is wet.
