What this MCCB carries and where it fits
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA1116-4EF32-0CH0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker rated for a continuous current Iu of 160 A, with a TM240 thermal-magnetic overcurrent release. The 160 A rating holds flat from 40 °C to 50 °C; above that it derates to 153.6 A at 55 °C, 150.4 A at 60 °C, 147.2 A at 65 °C, and 144 A at 70 °C — so in a warm cabinet you lose about 10 % at the top end. The interrupting ratings climb steeply as voltage drops: 121 kA at 240 V, 75.6 kA at 415 V, 52.5 kA at 440 V, and 11.9 kA at 690 V. That 121 kA at 240 V makes it a strong choice for high-fault panels fed from a large transformer or a utility service where available fault current is well above typical 65 kA gear. This is a line-protection version (not a motor-protection or generator breaker), so it is sized for feeder and distribution circuits in switchboards, panelboards, and downstream sub-distribution. The TM240 release is a fixed thermal-magnetic trip — no electronic adjustment, no communication function, no phase-failure detection. What you get is a rugged, no-frills MCCB for standard overcurrent and short-circuit protection on cable and bus.
Auxiliaries and release options
The breaker ships with an undervoltage release (UVR) fitted — part of the auxiliary release design — and an auxiliary contact block carrying 2 auxiliary switches plus 1 trip alarm switch (HQ type). That gives you two N.O./N.C. pairs for status feedback plus a dedicated alarm contact that changes state only on a trip event. The integrated auxiliary trip (the UVR coil) has its own order code 3VA9608-0BB24 if you ever need a replacement. No ground-fault monitoring module is included, and there is no voltage-trip (shunt-trip) release on this build.
Dimensions and panel fit
The MCCB measures 130 mm high, 76.2 mm wide, and 70 mm deep. The 76.2 mm width is a standard 3-pole MCCB footprint — three 25.4 mm pole centers — so it fits existing SENTRON 3VA panel cutouts and busbar systems without modification. Depth of 70 mm is shallow enough for most 200 mm deep enclosures with room for wiring gutters.
Environmental and compliance notes
Rated for operation from -25 °C to 70 °C ambient, with storage from -40 °C to 80 °C. Front-face protection is IP40 — fine for a clean indoor panel, but not rated for washdown or outdoor exposure. The reference code per DIN EN 81346-2 is Q (switchgear). Compliance documentation (RoHS, REACH, UL, IEC) is provided with the unit; no specific cert numbers are listed in the spec record, but SENTRON MCCBs carry UL 489 and IEC 60947-2 by default.
