Siemens SENTRON 3VA1116-4EF32-0JA0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker rated for 160 A continuous current and line-protection duty (thermal-magnetic TM240 release). Breaking capacity hits 121 kA at 240 V AC and still delivers 75.6 kA at 415 V and 52.5 kA at 440 V — enough headroom for most commercial and light industrial main feeders without cascading upstream. The thermal derating curve holds full 160 A up to 50 °C; above that it steps down gradually to 144 A at 70 °C, so plan your enclosure temperature rise accordingly.
What's built in and what's left out
This MCCB carries a shunt trip (STL) auxiliary release as standard — useful for remote tripping via an E-stop or safety relay. What it does NOT have: no auxiliary contact block, no undervoltage release, no communication module, no phase-failure detection, and no ground-fault monitoring. It is a straight thermal-magnetic line-protection breaker with a voltage-trigger shunt trip. The TM240 release means the thermal pickup is fixed at 240 A, adjustable down to 160 A? Actually the 160 A rating is the continuous rated current (Iu); the TM240 release is the overcurrent trip unit type. If your panel needs remote status feedback or undervoltage protection, you will add those externally.
Panel fit and environment
Measures 130 mm high, 76.2 mm wide, 70 mm deep — standard 3-pole MCCB footprint for DIN-rail or screw-mount panel integration. Front protection is IP40, meaning tools and fingers are safe but not sealed against washdown; keep it in a cabinet. Operating temperature range -25 to 70 °C, storage from -40 to 80 °C. No auxiliary contacts built in, so if you need a NO/NC status signal for a PLC or indicator lamp, add a separate auxiliary switch block.
