SENTRON 3VA1116-4EF32-0KA0 — 160 A MCCB with Shunt Trip
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA1116-4EF32-0KA0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated for line protection, carrying a continuous current of 160 A at 40 °C through 50 °C, derating to 150 A at 70 °C. The TM240 thermal-magnetic release handles overload and short-circuit protection; the integrated shunt trip (STL) allows remote tripping via a control voltage signal, which is useful for emergency-stop or supervisory shutdown circuits. Interrupting capacity is 121 kA at 240 V AC, dropping to 75.6 kA at 415 V and 52.5 kA at 440 V — sufficient for high-fault utility feeds or transformer secondaries. At 690 V it still clears 11.9 kA, covering most industrial motor branch circuits.
Panel Fit and Mounting
The 76.2 mm width (3 in) and 130 mm height fit standard SENTRON 3VA panel cutouts and busbar systems. Depth is 70 mm, which leaves clearance for rear-access wiring in a 200 mm deep enclosure. Rated insulation voltage is 800 V, so it can be used on 480 V and 600 V class systems without additional derating for voltage.
Thermal Performance and Power Loss
Maximum power loss is 38 W at rated current — relevant for enclosure heat load calculations when grouping multiple breakers. Operating temperature range is -25 °C to 70 °C; storage range is -40 °C to 80 °C.
