Panel fit and interrupting specs
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA1116-4EF32-0KH0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) sized for line protection duty, carrying a rated continuous current Iu of 160 A and a rated insulation voltage Ui of 800 V. Breaking capacity drops as line voltage climbs: 121 kA at 240 V, 75.6 kA at 415 V, 52.5 kA at 440 V, and 11.9 kA at 690 V — so the 415 V figure is the one that matters for most European industrial panels. The TM240 overcurrent release handles the thermal-magnetic trip curve; a shunt trip (STL) auxiliary release is built in, and the auxiliary contact block carries 2 auxiliary switches plus 1 trip alarm switch HQ. Front face is IP40 rated, so it's fine inside a closed panel but not for washdown environments.
Thermal derating — what the continuous current actually delivers
Rated continuous current holds flat at 160 A from 40 °C through 50 °C ambient. At 55 °C it drops to 153.6 A, at 60 °C to 150.4 A, at 65 °C to 147.2 A, and at 70 °C to 144 A. Operating ambient range is -25 °C to 70 °C; storage range is -40 °C to 80 °C.
Lifecycle and sourcing reality
It's a standard catalog line from the SENTRON family, so lead times are predictable through normal distribution. We source and quote it to order against an RFQ; availability and current pricing are confirmed at quote time.
What it does not have (so you don't order blind)
No undervoltage release, no communication function, no phase failure detection, no ground fault monitoring, and no other measurement function. The integrated auxiliary trip accessory order code is 3VA9688-0BL33 — that's the shunt trip coil you'd order alongside if the BOM needs it.
