Interrupting capacity and selectivity
The 3VA1116-4EF36-0BA0: The interrupting ratings span the voltage spectrum: 121 kA at 240 V, 75.6 kA at 415 V, 52.5 kA at 440 V, and 11.9 kA at both 500 V and 690 V. At 415 V — common in European industrial panels — the 75.6 kA SCCR gives headroom above typical 50 kA fault levels, so it coordinates cleanly with upstream fuses or a larger frame without forcing a cascade trip. The 690 V rating of 11.9 kA is the limiting case; verify it against the transformer secondary fault current if the breaker lands on a 690 V bus.
Thermal derating and ambient limits
Rated current holds flat at 160 A from 40 °C through 50 °C, then derates to 158 A at 55 °C, 155 A at 60 °C, 153 A at 65 °C, and 150 A at 70 °C. The operating ambient range is -25 °C to 70 °C, with storage from -40 °C to 80 °C. If the breaker sits in a non-air-conditioned enclosure near a heat source (drive cabinet, transformer), the 55 °C derating point is the first inflection — plan the load at 158 A or less above that temperature.
Physical fit and panel integration
Dimensions are 130 mm height, 76.2 mm width, 70 mm depth. The 76.2 mm width (3 in) is the standard 3-pole MCCB footprint for this frame size — it occupies three 25 mm DIN positions if base-mounted, or bolts directly to a mounting plate. The 70 mm depth leaves clearance for rear-connected busbars or a cable-entry gland plate behind the breaker.
