160 A MCCB with 121 kA interrupting capacity at 240 V
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA1116-4EF36-0JC0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker rated for 160 A continuous current at 40 °C, with a TM240 thermal-magnetic overcurrent release. Its interrupting capacity hits 121 kA at 240 V, 75.6 kA at 415 V, and 52.5 kA at 440 V — numbers that matter when you're coordinating downstream feeders and need the upstream device to clear a bolted fault without the main bus seeing it. The 160 A rating holds flat through 50 °C; above that it derates to 153.6 A at 55 °C and 144 A at 70 °C, so a warm panel enclosure needs a headroom check before you commit the BOM line. This is a line-protection variant — no ground-fault module, no communication stack, no phase-failure detection. It carries two HQ auxiliary switches (form C) and a shunt trip (STL) as the integrated auxiliary release, order code 3VA9688-0BL32. The front face is IP40 rated, so it's fine inside a standard panel but not for washdown environments.
Panel fit and integration
Dimensions are 130 mm high, 76.2 mm wide, 70 mm deep. It mounts on a DIN rail or can be screw-fixed to a backplate. The 70 mm depth means it clears most standard 200 mm deep enclosures with room for wiring gutters. Rated insulation voltage is 800 V, and the mechanical endurance is 15 000 cycles — typical for a distribution MCCB in a fixed installation.
