What this MCCB delivers on a panel line
The Siemens 3VA1116-4FE46-0AA0 is a SENTRON molded case circuit breaker rated 80 A continuous, 4-pole, with a TM220 thermal-magnetic release — meaning the thermal element is fixed at 80 A and the magnetic pickup is 10× In (800 A) for short-circuit protection. Breaking capacity runs 121 kA at 240 V AC, 75.6 kA at 415 V, and 52.5 kA at 440 V, so it handles high-fault utility feeds or transformer secondaries without cascading upstream. The 800 V rated insulation voltage gives headroom for 690 V line-to-line systems.
Thermal derating and real-world current
The 80 A rating holds flat from 40 °C to 50 °C (–). At 55 °C it derates to 158 A, at 60 °C to 155 A, at 65 °C to 153 A, and at 70 °C to 150 A. If your panel ambient runs above 50 °C, size the load accordingly — the breaker itself dissipates 38 W max, so ventilation matters in a sealed enclosure.
Integration notes
The breaker measures 70 mm deep, 101.6 mm wide, 130 mm high (–). Front protection is IP40 — suitable for a closed panel, not for washdown. The 4-pole design handles three-phase plus neutral, common for 400/415 V distribution. No undervoltage release, no trip indicator, no communication module — this is a straight thermal-magnetic line-protection device.
