160 A MCCB with TM210 — what the ratings mean for your panel
Siemens SENTRON 3VA1116-5ED32-0BC0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker rated for 160 A continuous current. That 160 A holds flat through 50 °C; above that the thermal curve steps down to 153.6 A at 55 °C and 144 A at 70 °C, so if this breaker lives in a hot enclosure near other heat sources, you need to account for that derating on the load side. The TM210 overcurrent release handles the thermal-magnetic trip — fixed thermal and magnetic elements, no electronic adjustment. Line protection version means it's set up for feeder and distribution duty, not motor or generator protection. Breaking capacity runs from 187 kA at 240 V down to 17 kA at 690 V. At 415 V it still interrupts 121 kA, which covers most industrial distribution panels on that voltage. Rated insulation voltage is 800 V, so it's comfortable on 690 V systems with margin.
Mounting and integration — fits a standard panel footprint
Width is 76.2 mm. Depth of 70 mm and height of 130 mm mean it clears most gland plates and back panels without interference. IP40 on the front keeps dust out of the mechanism. Comes with 2 auxiliary switches (HQ type) and an undervoltage release (UVR) integrated. The UVR trips the breaker when control voltage drops below a threshold — common for emergency-stop chains or undervoltage protection schemes. Auxiliary contacts give status feedback to a PLC or indicator lamp without needing add-on blocks.
