The Siemens SENTRON 3VA1116-5ED32-0KH0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated for 160 A continuous current at 40 °C, with a breaking capacity of 187 kA at 240 V AC and 121 kA at 415 V AC. It is designed for line protection in industrial distribution panels, with an insulation voltage rated at 800 V. The breaker includes a shunt trip (STL) and an auxiliary switch block with 2 auxiliary switches plus 1 trip alarm switch (HQ).
Breaking capacity and thermal derating
The 187 kA interrupting rating at 240 V AC is the highest on this frame — useful for high-fault utility feeds or transformer secondaries. At 415 V it still holds 121 kA, dropping to 75.6 kA at 440 V and 17 kA at 500/690 V. The thermal rating holds flat at 160 A from 40 °C to 50 °C, then derates to 158 A at 55 °C, 155 A at 60 °C, 153 A at 65 °C, and 150 A at 70 °C. That means in a warm enclosure you lose only 10 A at the top of the operating range.
Auxiliaries and releases
Factory-fitted with a shunt trip (STL) for remote tripping and an auxiliary switch block (2 aux + 1 trip alarm). No undervoltage release, no ground-fault monitoring, no communication module. The supplied basic switch is order code 3VA11165ED320AA0. The breaker has a trip indicator and a voltage trigger.
Mounting and environment
Dimensions: 130 mm high, 76.2 mm wide, 70 mm deep. Designed for panel-mount installation in a standard switchboard or enclosure. Operating temperature range -25 °C to 70 °C; storage from -40 °C to 80 °C. Maximum power loss 38 W.
