What this MCCB carries and where it fits
The Siemens 3VA1116-5EE32-0HC0 is a SENTRON molded case circuit breaker rated for 160 A continuous current (Iu) with a TM220 thermal-magnetic overcurrent release. Three poles, line-protection version — no ground-fault monitoring, no communication module, no phase-failure detection. The interrupting ratings climb to 187 kA at 240 V and 121 kA at 415 V, so it handles high-fault-capacity industrial feeds without cascading upstream. Rated insulation voltage is 800 V (Ui). The breaker includes a shunt trip (STL) auxiliary release and two HQ auxiliary switches. No undervoltage release, no trip indicator on the front. IP40 on the front face — dry indoor panel duty, not washdown.
Thermal derating and panel space
Full 160 A holds up to 50 °C ambient. At 55 °C it derates to 153.6 A, at 60 °C to 150.4 A, at 65 °C to 147.2 A, and at 70 °C to 144 A. If the panel ambient runs hot — say a packed enclosure near a furnace line — plan for the 70 °C ceiling of 144 A, not the nameplate 160 A. Footprint: 130 mm high, 76.2 mm wide, 70 mm deep. That 70 mm depth means it clears a standard 100 mm deep enclosure backpan without a gland-plate interference. Width at 76.2 mm is a three-module DIN-rail pitch — it fills three 25 mm slots in a SENTRON distribution board.
