MCCB with 160 A continuous rating and high breaking capacity
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA1116-5EF36-0DC0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker rated for 160 A continuous current (Iu) with a TM240 thermal-magnetic overcurrent release. Its breaking capacity reaches 187 kA at 240 V, 121 kA at 415 V, 75.6 kA at 440 V, and 17 kA at 690 V — figures that tell you it can handle high-fault utility feeds or transformer secondaries without cascading upstream. The 160 A rating holds steady from 40 °C up to 50 °C; above that it derates to 144 A at 70 °C, so plan your enclosure ventilation if you're pushing the full ampacity in a hot panel.
Undervoltage release and auxiliary switching
This MCCB ships with an integrated undervoltage release (UVR) — part of the design of the auxiliary release — and two HQ auxiliary switches. The UVR drops the breaker if control voltage falls below its dropout threshold, which is standard for safety circuits that need to disconnect on power loss. The two auxiliary switches give you status feedback (open/closed) for the PLC or a remote annunciator, and they're rated for the same isolation voltage as the main contacts. No trip indicator on the front, so you'll rely on the aux contacts or a separate indication module for fault status.
Physical fit and panel integration
The breaker measures 70 mm deep, 76.2 mm wide, and 130 mm high. That 76.2 mm width (3 inches) is the standard 3-pole MCCB footprint for this class — it drops into a panel cutout or DIN-rail adapter without surprises. The IP40 rating on the front means it's protected against tools and small wires entering the enclosure but not against water; mount it inside a sealed cabinet if the environment is wet or dusty.
