Breaking capacity across voltage levels
The 3VA1116-5EF42-0AG0: This MCCB delivers 187 kA at 240 V, 121 kA at 415 V, 75.6 kA at 440 V, and 17 kA at 690 V. That 187 kA figure at 240 V is the headline — it handles high-fault conditions on the low-voltage side of a step-down transformer without cascading upstream. At 690 V the 17 kA rating still covers most industrial motor branch circuits.
Thermal derating and panel fit
Rated continuous current holds at 160 A from 40 °C through 50 °C ambient. Above that it derates: 153.6 A at 55 °C, 150.4 A at 60 °C, 147.2 A at 65 °C, and 144 A at 70 °C. If your enclosure runs hot — say a packed panel near a furnace line — use the 55 °C or 60 °C figure for your load calculation, not the 160 A nameplate. The breaker itself measures 70 mm deep by 101.6 mm wide by 130 mm tall, with IP40 protection on the front face. That width is a standard 4-pole MCCB footprint; it drops into a SENTRON 3VA mounting base without panel modification.
Auxiliary contacts and lifecycle
Factory-fitted with one auxiliary switch and one trip alarm switch (HP type) — enough to signal the breaker state to a PLC or BMS without adding a separate contact block. Mechanical endurance is rated at 15,000 operations. No undervoltage release, no ground-fault monitoring, no communication module on this variant; it is a straight line-protection breaker for hardwired distribution.
