160 A, 4-pole SENTRON MCCB for line protection
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA1116-5GF42-0AA0 is a 4-pole molded case circuit breaker rated for 160 A continuous at 40 °C, with a TM240 thermal-magnetic overcurrent release designed for line protection duty. It carries a maximum interrupting rating of 187 kA at 240 V, stepping down to 121 kA at 415 V, 75.6 kA at 440 V, and 17 kA at both 500 V and 690 V — a selectivity curve that covers most industrial distribution voltages without needing a frame size bump. The 160 A rating holds flat from 40 °C through 50 °C, then derates to 158 A at 55 °C, 155 A at 60 °C, 153 A at 65 °C, and 150 A at 70 °C. That means in a warm switchroom or enclosed panel you lose only 10 A at the top of the ambient range — the thermal design has headroom built in.
Lifecycle and compliance posture
If your specification requires a shunt trip, electronic trip unit, or Modbus interface, this is not the variant.
Dimensions are 130 mm height, 101.6 mm width, 70 mm depth — a 4-pole MCCB that fits standard Siemens SENTRON mounting bases and busbar systems. The 101.6 mm width (4 inches) matches the typical 4-pole MCCB footprint for panel cutouts and busbar pitch.
This is a current-production Siemens SENTRON MCCB.
