Line protection MCCB with TM240 release and undervoltage release
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA1116-6EF32-0DA0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated for 160 A continuous current at 40 °C, designed for line protection per the product designation. It carries a TM240 thermal-magnetic overcurrent release — the thermal element handles overloads, the magnetic element handles short-circuits, with the trip threshold set at 240 A (1.5× the continuous rating).
Breaking capacity varies with system voltage: 220 kA at 240 V AC, 154 kA at 415 V AC, 75.6 kA at 440 V AC, and 17 kA at both 500 V and 690 V AC. At 240 V this is a high-interrupting rating suitable for transformer secondary or large bus feeds where fault current is substantial.
Continuous current holds at 160 A from 40 °C through 50 °C ambient. Above that, derating applies: 158 A at 55 °C, 155 A at 60 °C, 153 A at 65 °C, and 150 A at 70 °C. The operating ambient range is -25 °C to +70 °C; storage range is -40 °C to +80 °C.
Dimensions: 130 mm height, 76.2 mm width (3 inches), 70 mm depth. The 3-inch width is standard for a 3-pole MCCB in this frame size — it occupies one 3-pole mounting position on a DIN rail or panel-mount adapter. Rated insulation voltage is 800 V, which covers 480/277 V and 600 V systems with margin.
