MCCB for line protection — 160 A, TM240 release
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA1116-6EF36-0AG0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker rated for 160 A continuous current (Iu) with a TM240 thermal-magnetic overcurrent release. It is configured for line protection — no undervoltage release, no ground-fault monitoring, no communication module. The auxiliary contact set includes one auxiliary switch and one trip alarm switch (HP type). Breaking capacity is 220 kA at 240 V AC, 154 kA at 415 V, 75.6 kA at 440 V, and 17 kA at 690 V. That 220 kA at 240 V is a high-interrupting rating — suitable for installations with high available fault current near the service entrance or transformer secondary. The thermal-magnetic release is fixed (TM240), meaning the thermal pickup and magnetic trip thresholds are factory-set, not field-adjustable. Rated insulation voltage is 800 V. The breaker carries IP40 protection on the front face — suitable for enclosed panel mounting where the front is behind a door. Operating temperature range is -25 °C to 70 °C; current derating begins above 50 °C: 153.6 A at 55 °C, 150.4 A at 60 °C, 147.2 A at 65 °C, 144 A at 70 °C.
Panel fit and integration
Dimensions: 130 mm height, 76.2 mm width, 70 mm depth. The 76.2 mm width is a 3-pole frame — fits standard Siemens 3VA mounting plates and busbar systems. The 70 mm depth leaves clearance for rear-connected busbars or cable lugs in a typical 200 mm deep enclosure. Latching endurance is rated at 15,000 operations.
