MCCB for high-fault panels
The Siemens 3VA1116-6EF36-0DH0 is a 3-pole SENTRON molded case circuit breaker rated 160 A continuous at 40 °C, with a 220 kA interrupting capacity at 240 V — that SCCR handles utility-level fault current without cascading upstream. It carries an integrated undervoltage release (UVR) and a trip indicator, plus two auxiliary switches and one trip alarm switch (HQ).
Breaking capacity across voltages
Interrupting rating drops as line voltage rises: 220 kA at 240 V, 154 kA at 415 V, 75.6 kA at 440 V, and 17 kA at both 500 V and 690 V. For a 480 V panel (common in North America), the 75.6 kA at 440 V is the nearest published figure — use the 415 V or 440 V column for coordination studies.
Thermal derating and environment
Rated 160 A from 40 °C through 50 °C, then derates to 158 A at 55 °C, 155 A at 60 °C, 153 A at 65 °C, and 150 A at 70 °C. Operating range is -25 °C to +70 °C; storage range is -40 °C to +80 °C. Max power loss is 40.5 W. Insulation voltage rated 800 V.
Panel fit and auxiliaries
Dimensions: 130 mm height, 76.2 mm width (3 in), 70 mm depth (2.76 in). The 3-pole footprint is standard for SENTRON 3VA series; the built-in undervoltage release and HQ auxiliary switch block save a DIN-rail slot versus external add-ons. Line-protection design (no ground-fault monitoring) keeps it simple for feeder or main breaker duty.
