SENTRON 3VA1116-6EF36-0JH0 — 160 A MCCB, line protection, shunt trip
The Siemens 3VA1116-6EF36-0JH0 is a SENTRON 3-pole molded case circuit breaker rated for 160 A continuous current (Iu) with a TM240 thermal-magnetic overcurrent release. It is configured for line protection — no ground-fault monitoring, no phase-failure detection, no communication module. The interrupting ratings climb to 220 kA at 240 V, 154 kA at 415 V, 75.6 kA at 440 V, and 17 kA at 690 V, which covers most industrial distribution panels and motor control center feeder positions. A shunt trip (STL) auxiliary release is factory-installed, and the auxiliary contact block provides 2 auxiliary switches plus 1 trip alarm switch (HQ). The TM240 release is a fixed thermal-magnetic unit — no interchangeable rating plugs. The breaker carries an IP40 rating on the front face, sufficient for general-purpose panel mounting where drip shields or higher ingress protection are not required.
Current derating and thermal limits
The 160 A rating holds flat from 40 °C through 50 °C ambient. Above that, the breaker derates: 153.6 A at 55 °C, 150.4 A at 60 °C, 147.2 A at 65 °C, and 144 A at 70 °C. The operating temperature range is -25 °C to 70 °C; storage range is -40 °C to 80 °C. If the panel ambient runs above 50 °C, the continuous current capability drops by about 6 A per 5 °C step — factor that into the feeder sizing.
Panel fit and dimensions
Dimensions: 70 mm deep, 76.2 mm wide, 130 mm tall. The 3-pole footprint matches the standard 3VA111x frame width. The breaker mounts via screw-clamp terminals on the line and load sides — no DIN-rail clip. The shunt trip (STL) and auxiliary contact block are integrated into the breaker body, so the overall depth stays at 70 mm including the accessory stack. The IP40 front face is suitable for enclosed panel mounting; no additional gasketing needed for standard indoor environments.
