SENTRON 3VA 32 A MCCB — line protection with TM240 release
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA1132-3EF36-0AC0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated for 32 A at 40 °C, designed for line protection duty. It carries a 75.6 kA interrupting capacity at 240 V, stepping down to 52.5 kA at 415 V and 32 kA at 440 V — enough headroom for most industrial distribution panels where fault currents are coordinated upstream. The TM240 thermal-magnetic release means the thermal element tracks the cable temperature curve for overload protection, while the magnetic instantaneous element clears short-circuit faults fast. No undervoltage release, no ground-fault module, no communication function — this is a straightforward line-protection MCCB for the main feeder or a large subfeed. Dimensions are 70 mm deep, 76.2 mm wide, 130 mm tall — standard 3VA frame size that fits the SENTRON mounting base and busbar system. The 2 auxiliary switches HQ are built in, so you get status feedback without adding external contact blocks.
Breaking capacity across voltages
The interrupting ratings are voltage-dependent: 75.6 kA at 240 V, 52.5 kA at 415 V, 32 kA at 440 V, and 11.9 kA at both 500 V and 690 V. That 11.9 kA at 690 V is the limiting factor if you're running a 690 V distribution — verify your available fault current is below that threshold. Rated insulation voltage is 800 V, so the breaker is physically rated for the 690 V systems it can interrupt. Power loss is 10.6 W maximum at rated load — manageable for panel thermal budgeting.
Thermal derating and operating range
The 32 A rating holds from 40 °C through 50 °C. At 55 °C it derates to 31 A, and at 70 °C it's 30 A. Operating ambient range is -25 °C to 70 °C; storage range is -40 °C to 80 °C. If your panel ambient runs above 50 °C, factor the 1 A drop per 5 °C step.
