What it is and what it does
This is a Siemens SENTRON 3VA1132-3GD42-0AA0 molded case circuit breaker — a 4-pole, 32 A unit with a TM210 thermal-magnetic overcurrent release, built for line protection in distribution panels. The interrupting ratings climb to 75.6 kA at 240 V and still hold 52.5 kA at 415 V, so it clears high-fault bolted shorts without the arc flashing upstream. The adjustable short-circuit release (li max. 320 A) lets you dial in the magnetic trip for motor inrush or transformer magnetizing current, which keeps nuisance trips off your PM schedule. Out here in the grease, if a breaker can't handle the fault current at the transformer secondary, you're replacing more than the breaker — this one does.
Ratings and what they mean for fit
Rated continuous current Iu is 32 A, and the thermal derating curve holds that figure up to 50 °C ambient — at 55 °C it drops to 31 A, at 65 °C to 30 A. If your panel sits near a furnace line or a hot motor drive, that derating is the number to spec by, not the label ampacity. The insulation voltage is rated 800 V, so it's comfortable on 480 V or 600 V systems with margin. DC operation is rated up to 600 V, which matters if you're breaking a battery bank or DC bus. The TM210 release means the thermal element is fixed at 32 A and the magnetic pickup is adjustable across a 10x range — that's the standard thermal-magnetic curve for general distribution, not a motor-only protector.
Panel fit and mounting
The breaker measures 70 mm deep by 101.6 mm wide by 130 mm tall. That 101.6 mm width — exactly 4 inches — is the standard footprint for a 4-pole MCCB on a DIN rail or bolted to a mounting plate. The front face carries an IP40 rating, meaning it's protected against tools and wires larger than 1 mm, but not against dust ingress or hose-down. Inside a NEMA 1 or 12 enclosure that's fine; don't put it on the washdown side of a food line without a sealed cover. The N-conductor protection is rated at 100%, so the neutral pole is fully rated — no derating needed on 4-wire systems with harmonic loads.
