What it is and what it does
The Siemens 3VA1132-4EF36-0JC0 is a SENTRON molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) designed for line protection in distribution panels. Its 3-pole construction and 32 A rating (continuous at 40 °C through 50 °C, derating to 30 A at 70 °C) make it a fit for feeder or branch circuits in commercial and industrial switchboards.
Breaking capacity — the real-world fault stop
This MCCB carries a breaking capacity of 121 kA at 240 V AC, 75.6 kA at 415 V, 52.5 kA at 440 V, and 11.9 kA at both 500 V and 690 V. Those numbers define the maximum fault current it can safely interrupt at each system voltage — critical for selectivity studies and SCCR compliance in panels feeding motor control centers or high-fault transformer secondaries.
Thermal derating and panel integration
Rated 32 A continuous from 40 °C to 50 °C, it derates to 31 A at 55–60 °C and 30 A at 65–70 °C. In a closed panel with multiple breakers ganged, that derating curve governs the real ampacity — don't load it to 32 A if ambient inside the enclosure hits 55 °C. Dimensions are 130 mm tall, 76.2 mm wide, and 70 mm deep, fitting standard 3-pole MCCB footprints on DIN rail or panel-mount backplates.
Auxiliaries and release options
Factory-fitted with a shunt trip (STL) for remote opening and two HQ auxiliary switches for status feedback to a PLC or alarm circuit. Rated insulation voltage is 800 V, and maximum power loss is 10.6 W per pole — relevant for thermal budgeting in densely populated panels.
